My Main Character – blog hop

Thank you to my fellow Choc Lit author Christine Stovell for inviting me to take part in the Meeting My main Character blog hop.

Christine and I are known (to ourselves, anyway!) as Mrs July as we both have books out next month (though available now in digital format). In her blog, Christine introduced us to her lovely heroine May Starling from Follow a Star. Her book is available here:

Now it’s my turn, and I’m going to tell you a bit about my hero from Do Opposites Attract.

What is the name of the main character?

Mitch McBride – a rough, gruff doctor who works for a medical charity, Medic SOS.

When and where is the story set?

It’s a contemporary romance and begins in a refugee camp in South America, which is like home turf for Mitch. The second part of the book moves to England where Mitch finds himself stepping into Brianna’s world.

What should we know about him?

He’s gorgeous (obviously) – dark brown eyes in a rugged face, hard body, dirty blonde hair and a panther tattoo. A strong alpha male, his tough, at times abrasive attitude hides a feeling of inadequacy that stems from his less than happy childhood. He’s put all that behind him now though, working in an environment where it doesn’t matter where he came from.

What is the main conflict? What messes up his life?

The arrival at the refugee camp of the sassy and beautiful heiress, Brianna, turns Mitch’s life upside down. Confident in her own skin, she reminds him all too sharply of his own poor roots. He tries to shrug off the chip on his shoulder, but it clings on, tenaciously. Brianna epitomises everything he’s not; classy, rich, secure. His life is full of hard work, suffering and courage. Hers revolves around luxury and idleness.

And yet, he’s drawn to her.

What is Mitch’s goal?

Mitch wants to be left alone, to throw himself into his work and not be reminded of his past. He doesn’t want or need love – he doesn’t even know what the word means. But he finds Brianna won’t be pushed away that easily.

What is the book’s title?

Do Opposites Attract?  – paperback out in July, ebook available here now.

I’m now going to pass the baton to two further Choc Lit authors. Next week you can find out about Rhoda Baxter’s main character here:   http://www.rhodabaxter.com/

and Isabella Connor’s main character here: http://livbet.webs.com/apps/blog/

Thank you for visiting and hope to see you again next time.
