What I learnt over the last few weeks: 16th July 2021

Looking at the blog I can see it’s been a while since I last posted – how did that happen? How did time fly by that fast?! I suppose it does when you’re finally let loose, able to see friends and family you’ve only had virtual catch ups with for the last 18 months. I also snuck in a few days in Devon where I put in some serious training for the MacMillan Mighty Hike which takes place tomorrow.

Tomorrow – aghh!!!

Deep in lockdown, when we had a flyer through the door, my hubby decided it would be a great idea to take part in the Mighty Hike from Windsor to Henley. A walk along the Thames in July. Sounded idyllic, and a long way off. The walk was 26 miles but hey, it’s only a walk. I can run 10 miles (just) so this should be a doddle?

Well our practice walk in Exmouth around the estuary – 20 miles – proved to be knackering (though very beautiful). And we knew when we collapsed back into our hotel room that on the day of the real hike, we’d still have another 6 miles to go…

What else has been happening?

My latest book, The Beach Reads Book Club is now out!

If you’re interested to find out more about the inspiration behind it and some of the characters, then you might what to check out this interview I did for the One More Chapter Book club with Sara (I’m the one with the books strategically placed behind me – oh and the cheesy grin and wrinkles!)   https://t.co/KLQFphv0hn.

Phew, I think that’s you all up to date. I’m off to Lake Como now – no, alas, not in real life, just in my head, writing the next book 🙂
